We began the week looking closely at ourselves. We read The Skin You Live In and The Great Sandwich Swap. Both great books to talk about ways we are the same and ways we are different. We continue to share our ALL ABOUT ME posters and note when we have connections with one another.
This week we also talked about other symbols communities use to represent them. We found out that Pacific Northwest Native Americans use Totem Poles to tell their community story. We thought it would be fun to make a totem pole to tell our class story. Students designed their own symbol and choose what it stood for. Students painted their symbol onto our "totem pole".
We also looked at different ways to make numbers! Students played Build-it and shared how they made the number.
