Not a Stick

Earlier this year students enjoyed the story Not a Box.  They then created box projects.  This spring we read, Not A Stick. This book reminds us of how our imaginations can turn a stick into anything.  Here are some pictures of what the class came up with for their, Not a Stick ideas.

Wind socks

During our guided reading lessons, some students had the opportunity to read a book that explained how to make a wind sock.  After reading the book, Students were able to make their own wind sock. They also showed other students how to make one!

Weather

This quarter we enjoyed taking a look at weather.  While we have been recording our weather each day, we took a close look at some extreme weather.  Students wrote about weather that they liked.  They researched weather and created weather projects.  We turned our room into a weather museum and invited the school to come and take a look at what we learned.

Science Experiment

This quarter we did a lot with solids, liquids and gases.  Here were were conducting an experiment to show what would make an ice cube melt quicker, salt or sugar.  Ms. Philbrook helped us.

March Happenings!
