Igloo completed!

Several months ago a parent sent me a picture of an igloo and thought it would be a great addition to our classroom.  As we studied Abe Lincoln and George Washington we compared their lives and homes.  We also talked about other shelters.  We read the  book, Shelters.  In it we saw many different kinds of shelters like; houseboats, tents, adobe, and an igloo.   The  class decided they indeed wanted to try and build one! With the help of our families and friends,  and special help from a Grandparent volunteer, the igloo for our room is completed!  Below are some photos that document the event!

The Leprechaun even tried out the igloo!

We recycled lots of milk jugs!

What "CooL" learning space!
So excited to have this in our room!

Traps and Igloo!

March is quickly passing, but we have been busy building Leprechaun traps and an igloo!  While we weren't able to capture any Leprechauns, I know we will enjoy reading in our igloo! Thank you everyone that sent in milk jugs!  Special thank you to our helper Mr. Tullo for helping us put it together!

Mitten Challenge

After reading several versions of "The Mitten", students were challenged to design and make a mitten that could fit on his/her hand.  There was a lot of creative thinking and stamina needed to complete the project! So proud of these penguins!
